During the early 1990s, while Datalogic was expanding its product portfolio, it started also offering complete state of the art solutions that were tailored to specific applications in the reference target markets: Retail, Transportation & Logistics, Manufacturing and Healthcare. The company had grown globally from just 5 employees in 1972 to around 1,000 in just over 20 years. It immediately became clear to Dr. Romano Volta that Datalogic needed a new growth strategy: a course of action to optimize the company’s organizational structure, business processes and management directive in order to sustain global growth and development for years to come. In 1993, he launched an ambitious Strategic Plan, setting the growth targets and the path for the following twenty years. His goal was to transform Datalogic into an industry leader, capable of steady and sustained growth, global dominance, and renowned for its results. Thus, his 20-year Strategic Plan – “A Focused Approach by Dr. Romano Volta” (in Italian: “Il Punto di Volta”) - was born.
