In modern shipping operations, barcodes make logistics processes efficient and free from human error. Third-party logistics (3PL) and fulfillment centres rely heavily on shipping barcodes to order fulfillment efficiently. A shipping barcode is a label printed and stuck on a package and scanned in each stage of the delivery process to identify the merchandise as it’s moved from the manufacturer or fulfillment centre to the end customer.

Sorting systems identify and convey shipping cartons to the correct shipping lane using Datalogic imaging cameras and laser readers. Manifest systems make use of dimensioning and weight systems, as well as correct destination details to produce accurate labelling for the products to be shipped.

Datalogic products are seamlessly interfaced with warehouse management systems (WMS) to help generate stock reports, minimise human errors, and keep accurate track of stock levels. Real-time and accurate shipping information is key for logistics companies to achieve full end-to-end traceability of their products.
