The acquisition of PSC

In 2005, after a courtship which had been lasting several years, Datalogic completed the acquisition of PSC Inc. The company, a renowed manufacturer of Fixed Retail Scanners, HandHeld readers and Mobile Computers, had previously incorporated Spectra Physics, which designed the original Model A scanner that in 1974 performed the first barcode reading in history at a supermarket in Ohio. Thanks to this acquisition, the Datalogic group not only doubled its turnover and became the world leader in the fixed retail scanners (FRS) sector, but also managed to set a significant step in increasing its market share and reputation in the US market and in the retail industry worldwide.
