In 2021, to further strengthen and develop its market position in the sensors sector, Datalogic acquired M.D. Micro Detectors, a leading Italian company in optical, inductive, capacitive, and ultrasonic sensors, which was shortly afterwards merged with the Sensor & Safety and Machine Vision Business Units, giving birth to Datasensing, the new leading player in the factory automation market. The company's traditional focus on sensor and safety was complemented by the new drive toward the world of machine vision and artificial intelligence.
